Player List screen


This is our current version of the player list screen, displayng the name, age, position, side, attributes, wage and value. The lower table displays youth players. As you can see, the players are highlighted as you pass the mouse over them.

But I don't see control, heading, flair or aggression. Do you plan to add that?

Yeah looks good.

But also wanting to know if there will be more attributes or not.

In Managersim it was hard work trying to find a perfect striker. If he had good shooting and good control, you had an OK striker. If he, in addition to those, had also dribble or flair, you had a very good striker. And if you find (this was very, very difficult) a player with good shooting, control, dribble and flair (maybe also speed, not sure), then you´d have a perfect goal machine!

And I forgot to ask this.

Can you punish players like you could in MS/SS?

If you do something like that I think it also would be good if you could praise a player FM-style. Would raise someones motivation if the manager is happy and plays better.

looks great! just wondering, the game will use brazilian currency? i mean, real ? or it will be euro or £ as it was?

It is likely that we add more attributes to the players, not sure which ones yet. The logic to generate them looks fine but may be revised later, specially when we add more attributes.

Player punishment will be added in the future, as well as praising. I've always wanted to do that on MS :-)

The currency of the game will not be specific, we'll use just the '$' symbol.

one thing more, i saw in that screen you posted that there arent players that play on more than one side like

DMC
AMRL

etc...


will there be any in the future? or each player will just be catalogued with one position?

nope, if we speak in portuguese other viewers will not be able to give their opinion in what is being discussed.
about the sides, I dont think that is really necessary to have that kind of granularity, but we will discuss the subject in a near future.

other thing i just remembered: will there be copa dos libertadores in america? and the winner of that competition will face the winner of champions league?

That's the ideia, Alexandre. It probably won't be there in the first beta version, though.

Another question:

Have you tought about human managers at the national teams? It could work by invitation. the pc would invite managers who were very successful.

But without loosing their jobs in their respective teams. In world cup season or euro season or copa libertadores, good managers would be invited for selections! At the end they were still managers of their teams!

Sounds a great idea, think it has been posted in SS forums though.

Yes Andre, we have. National teams will be manageable when we create them and the ideia is to invite the best managers to control them, even if they manage teams from a country different than the national team they are being invited to. Unfortunately, that won't be available soon.

Alexandre, I'm not sure if it is a good ideia to let a manager control a national selection and a regular team. We'll postpone that discussion until we have national teams in the game.

this is not so simple to implement and we will not put it on a first release.

right now each manager can have one team, and the database architectural design is based on that idea.
For example, one of our ideas was that the tactics are not owned by the team, but by the manager itself. As a result, when you go to another team your tactics would go along with you (this is not 100% done yet).

One possibility would be to create another manager account (under special situations - invitation) just to manage the national team. Or just take a 'vacation' from your official team. But I dont think people would like to sink their teams while they manage the national team.

We're not planning to add stars to the players. Even though our main inspiration is MS we don't want a perfect copy of it :-)

In the future players will certainly have more complex non-numeric attributes and behaviour, not yet defined.

i dont know but it is most likely that this has been already discussed in MS forums:


would it be nice to have banks and possibility to loan money from them? the bank could be a nice idea to help lower clubs that need more money in the very beginning... they would pay once they had more money in first division!

It sounds like a very controversial ideia to me. I agree that banks could help lower clubs, but it could easily sink them as well. Not in our plans at the moment.

All these ideias will be better discussed when we set-up a forum. While we don't have one please keep posting ideias here in the blog comments guys!

Can I ask you how many gameworlds will there be at first, and if it is only one, how will be the tick pace?

I understand that perhaps we should only open one gameworld but it is my understanding that it will be necessary to have a fast tick pace so all bugs and errors are detected soon :)

We don't have a final decision about that yet but I agree that at least one gameworld should have a fast tick pace. It is also very likely that the initial gameworld(s) will be deleted/reset after a test period.
